The Relation Between Agriculture and Tourism in Bali

1.1.      The Background of the Problem
Since mastery of the Dutch in Bali as wide open to foreigners visiting Bali is not just the arrival of foreigners as a tourist, but not a few observers that came to record the unique art and culture of Bali.

The rapid tourism development, because each year received a visit from no less than two million foreign tourists it was a blessing for the people of Bali, a poor area of natural resources.
Tourism is a major driver of the economy of Bali. Unfortunately, local residents often just be a spectator in tourism. Agriculture had to succumb to the demands of tourism development in Bali. Irrigation canal was closed to build the road. Wetland sold to build hotels.
The agricultural sector is one of the cultural and economic asset for the development of the tourism sector. Therefore, agriculture and tourism should coexist harmoniously, without compromising one another. For it should be emphasized, the development of the tourism sector's rapid and uncontrolled will endanger the sustainability of the agricultural sector.
Agricultural lands converted for the sake of tourism facilities and other development. All that should be anticipated early on not to two sectors that become the foundation of the Balinese sacrifice.
In addition to the state / government, the economic benefits of tourism development in destination countries or regions are also strongly felt by the community. As an illustration, hotels are in need of various kinds of food to meet dietary needs of guests. To meet the demand for foodstuffs, such as meat, vegetables, and fruits are usually bought the hotel from the surrounding community with respect to quality of goods. With the increased need for food, then this provides an opportunity and encouraging farmers and ranchers around the hotel to increase production without losing quality agricultural products.
In addition, tourism development also aims to introduce and utilize the natural beauty and culture of Indonesia. This means, the development of tourism in Indonesia is inseparable of the potential possessed by Indonesia to support tourism. Indonesia has a very interesting cultural diversity. Cultural diversity is backed by the existence of religion, unique customs, and arts of each of the tribes in Indonesia. In addition, beautiful nature will provide an attraction for tourists both natural mountain (rural), the underwater world, and the beach.
